Pirouette Practice with my little ones. (8-11 yrs) Love their reactions when they land a triple.
We start with balances, quarter turns, half turns, then singles and doubles.
At the end I always let my students try to do as many turns as they can. They might not be perfect, but it is a great way to help them relax and have some fun in order to break down any mental barriers or fears that they have about turning.

Want better turnout? Higher extensions? Sturdier turns?
Get a Resistance band and try out this exercise! Miss Kathleen’s turnout exercise isolates and strengthens the muscles surrounding your hips.
For best results, do this exercise every day, go slow and hold for 8 counts each time. Do as many as physically possible, adding a couple more each day.
For a more intense workout use a thicker band. Medium and Heavy bands work best.

Fondu means to melt.l and it is such an important movement at the Barre because it helps you develop the strength to roll through your feet and plié on one leg without losing your balance. If you want good fouetté turns... start practicing fondu.

Looking for a fun way to improve your back strength and flexibility?
Try this exercise!
I call it the rocking horse because in order to keep rocking, you will need to maintain the curve in your back just like a rocking horse or chair. Keep your knees straight and kick them up to the ceiling instead of forward, over your head.

Tip: Use a yoga to add a little cushion. Your hip bones will thank you.

Keeping your legs straight during tendu battement is so important they named the movement after it! This Tendu Tuesday challenge yourself to keep your both of your legs completely straight throughout your tendu exercises. Try pulling up your knee caps by tightening your quadriceps. This will keep your knees from bending and make you feel much sturdier when balancing.
